About Jackie Baker
Public Sevice and Advocacy
Public service and the desire to help people have always been Jackie's calling. As an educator, she has served many students, families, and communities with compassion, integrity, and respect. From rural areas to cities, big and small, Jackie has focused on making the education, health, and general well-being of children and families her top priority.
Political Background
Jackie began her political activism six years ago by becoming active with her local political party, the Susquehanna County Democratic Committee, as well as, local women's groups, She began participating in action groups like Indivisible NEPA, MoveOn, Action Together NEPA, the Hub for Progress, Our Revolution PA, and Fair Districts PA. Jackie also became a member of the Wyoming County Democratic Women's Society and the Pennsylvania Federation of Democratic Women. Jackie has spent time volunteering on local, state, and congressional Democratic campaigns in Pennsylvania.
In 2018, Jackie became an election clerk for Liberty Township in Susquehanna County, PA. She was also elected to her first four-year term to the Pennsylvania Democratic State Committee. She was just elected to her second term to the PA Democratic State Committee in 2022. Jackie was also elected in 2022 to be a Precinct Committee Person for Liberty Township, in Susquehanna County.
Running for Public Office
Jackie was born, raised, and educated in Pennsylvania. She has seen and felt the impacts of our lawmakers' failure to put Pennsylvanians first. She has listened to the concerns of people and families across Pennsylvania who feel that their needs are being ignored by the career politicians.
Jackie's interest in advocacy and dedication to public service drove her to run for office in 2020. She was the Democratic candidate for Pennsylvania's 23rd State Senatorial District, the first Democrat to stand up and run in the district since 2012. In 2021, Jackie continued her advocacy work, meeting with community members and leaders. She earned her Certificate of Achievement in PA Policy and Governance from the PA Budget and Policy Center and Empowered to Run. Jackie became a founding member of the PA Coalition for Trans Youth.
In 2022, Jackie is running for State Senate in District 20. She is committed to serving the people and solving the problems that have been ignored for so long. Jackie has a strong work ethic and compassion for others that will serve Pennsylvanians well. Jackie is passionate about helping the families and communities in PA and will promote policies and legislation that will help everyone live in a safer, healthier, more prosperous, and equitable commonwealth.
